Connie Collins' voice-over: Most of us think of him as the devoted father and wise reverend on the WB's 7th Heaven. But actor Stephen Collins has a double life - a "double exposure", to be exact. His latest steamy novel is described as a twisty thriller, a deadly drama with obsessional sex. All this from a "preacher man"?
Stephen Collins: I just recently put together a new website which was for fans who'd asked for a lot of excess information on me, and it was kind of fun to do, but on it there's some information about Double Exposure, and I included a kind of warning label which says, "Dear 7th Heaven fans, Double Exposure was written by Stephen Collins, not Reverend Eric Camden. 'Cause it's not really ... Double Exposure is not for kids, but it's, you know, a good fast, kind of sexy summer read for adults.
CC: Four years in the making, Double Exposure is Collin's second novel. In fact, he was about to give up acting altogether to do only writing when along came 7th Heaven and it was, well, just too heavenly a part to pass up.
Stephen Collins: 7th Heaven has been such a great gig in every way. I love being part of it -- the audience is so passionate about it. We have great writers and a great cast, and it's ... so as long as its run is, I'm thrilled to be an actor.
CC: Fans, take note: Collins will be at Barnes and Noble on 82nd and Broadway this Thursday night. And while Stephen Collins may chat with you while he pens his name to your book, there's one subject he won't talk about, and that's the surprise ending to the upcoming season finale of 7th Heaven.
Stephen Collins: I will say this: the new surprise at the end of next week's season finale lends new meaning to the term "7th Heaven".
